Coach David Williams (MS, RSCC, CSCS, SCCC, USAW) has over 15 years of experience in the field of Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning. He started his strength and conditioning career at the University of Central Florida as a scholarship football player for the Knights. As a 3 year starter and Team Captain, Williams earned the UCF IRON MAN award for being the strongest lb for lb player on the team. During his junior year he began his strength internship in the weight room assisting multiple UCF sports teams earning his first strength and conditioning coach certification through the CSCCa before the start of his senior year. While completing his master’s degree he gained valuable sport science experience working in the UCF Human Performance Laboratory as a graduate assistant studying and conducting research in the performance field.
After attaining his Masters in Exercise Science In 2012, he joined the Indianapolis Colts strength staff. Coach Williams assisted with strength coaching duties and was ultimately promoted to Conditioning Performance Analyst. In this role he helped implement the catapult GPS tracking system in which all players were monitored during practice in real time giving the coaches the ability to modify loads accordingly. In Coach William’s 1st year implementing this system there was an 80% reduction of Colts players on the Injured Reserve list. During his time with the team, the Colts made it to the AFC Championship game and set an NFL record for 16 straight divisional wins breaking the record previously held by the 1972 Miami Dolphins.
Coach Williams also served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Indiana Fever of the WNBA for the 2016 Season. During his time with the team, the Fever made the playoffs for their 12th year in a row and set the WNBA record for the most consecutive playoff appearances.
In 2016 Coach Williams became the Director of Sports Performance at Zionsville High School and served in that role for 8 years. While there, every single male and female strength record was broken, many of them being several decades old. The male squat record in particular stood for over 2 decades before it was broken by 2 different athletes in the same week. During Coach William’s tenure Zionsville reached the state finals in multiple sports including basketball, wrestling, football, soccer, golf, cross country, tennis, and secured as many state titles in 8 years as the previous 135 years of the schools existence combined.
In the fall of 2024 Coach Williams was hired as the 1st ever Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Wabash College. Coach Williams holds multiple strength and conditioning certifications through the NSCA, CSCCa, and USAW. He is also a former South Carolina 1st place High School State Weightlifting Champion in the 235lb weight class. He carries very unique professional experience having coached both male and female athletes at every level of competition from youth to professional.
